9 November 2021 Each year I look forward to the day after daylight savings time ends. The illusion of awakening with an “extra hour” feels like an extraordinary gift to open and explore. In the days before our digital devices automatically reset it was all the more detectable ~ the seeming discovery of time and possibility itself. Cue Cher: if I could turn back time Of course, the day after daylight savings ends is merely an iteration of the same twenty-four increment we are offered each and every day. The difference is in in the context, in the noticing of where we find ourselves in the moment. what we do what we eschew what is deserving of our time and attention Every day we awake with an extraordinary gift ~ twenty-four hours to be in the world, moment by moment. As Annie Dillard reminds us: how we spend our days is how we spend our lives Instead of seeking more time, what would it be like to put on new spectacles? To appreciate the time we already have with a new perspective, and then to ask: what will I do with my time? what will you do with your time? When someone you haven’t seen in ten years
appears at the door,
don’t start singing him all your new songs.

Know you could tumble any second.
Then decide what to do with your time.
