24 November 2020 Dear Friends & Students, In a time like no other, this image spoke to me: unbalanced off kilter, as many of our own Thanksgiving tables will feel with seats unfilled. We continue our journey in a landscape unimagined. But within this world, there is always beauty to behold. Lately, I’ve been dreaming of homes in many forms: zillow surfing into an anticipated future, here or further afar, allowing myself to consider what someday could be. In her recent conversation with poet Richard Blanco, Krista Tippett takes up these questions: What is home? How does it feel and How do we claim it? Hardly more than ever, I’ve come to know the significance of getting quiet, and having a relationship with the seemingly small as the most extraordinary moments of wonder and revelation. This is our spectacular now, and this too shall pass. And so for Thanksgiving, I’m staying grounded. A table set for two on the day itself, and then bundling up for pies with my parents and kids out of doors the following day.
