last night a blanket of snow silently unfurled itself across Rochester.
it is beautiful ~ it speaks to the season it also speaks to my dogs, who have been awake since 4:18 am. (the bears)
that’s the thing about Olive & Abby. they are as exhausting as they are extraordinary. they are my life. we are on the other side of the solstice, each day offering a glimmer of more light than the one before. we have turned the year still, to be on the other side of any threshold does not mean to forget the pause but rather to remind ourselves of the promises we may have silently made. how can we continue to remind ourselves of the ways we honor darkness and welcome the light ~ what we wish to let go of and what to invite closer into our hearts and the days ahead, what do we want to know and nurture? how do we wish to be? in these moments, i return to Rilke ever reminding us to “be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. and the point is, to live everything. live the questions now. perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.” what is the question you are holding? on January 2 heidi and i look forward to asking holding our questions as we practice in community ~ we hope to see you there and in the busyness of the season, my wish to you is to find your time, to experience all that is your life as your exquisite gift. in peace and wonder xosew
